Description
American Heart Association HeartCode® BLS (Blended Learning)
HeartCode® BLS is the American Heart Association’s blended learning format for the Basic Life Support (BLS) Course. This course combines self-paced online learning with an in-person skills session, offering flexibility without compromising the high-quality resuscitation training expected from AHA.
Certification:
Participants who complete the online and hands-on components will receive a BLS Provider Course Completion Card, valid for two years.
Who Should Take This Course?
This course is designed for:
- Healthcare professionals and first responders
- Personnel who need to know how to perform CPR, use an AED, and provide essential cardiovascular life support in both in-hospital and pre-hospital settings

- Access to the BLS Provider Manual eBook (included with the course)
Part 1: Online Course
Participants receive access to the AHA’s interactive online course, which can be completed at their convenience. Course access is provided through American Heart. Upon completing the online portion, students must print the certificate of completion to bring to their hands-on session.
Part 2: Hands-On Skills Session
After completing the online module, students schedule their skills assessment with a certified AHA BLS Instructor. During this session, students will demonstrate:
- High-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants
- AED use
- Choking relief techniques
This in-person session typically lasts 30 minutes to 1 hour, depending on experience and class size. Certification is awarded after successful completion of the skills session.
