Description
Aging is one of the inevitabilities of our existence. Generation upon generation, our societies have practiced the long-held tradition of taking care of the elderly as an appreciation for the role they played in giving birth, raising, and nurturing the younger generation. Indeed, taking care of the elderly has always been considered not only an obligation but an extremely noble endeavor, and those who undertake it receive immense blessings that surpass any material benefit. Times have changed since the days of our forefathers. The hassles and baffles of modernity have reduced the number and influence of extended family members and, as such, have ensured that there is a need to have alternative long-term care facilities away from homes that would meet the growing needs of an increasingly isolated aging population. Indeed, many societies have adapted well to this challenge of having inadequate home or domestic support for the elderly by establishing long-term care facilities for them. Although some families have managed to establish their own home care facilities for their elderly parents, grandparents, and relatives, the increased complexity in terms of the needs of the elderly has meant that professional backup is necessary.
